This is the advantage of having computer-savvy friends is that when you f*-up and lose everything, they can rush to the rescue. Magical Todd used his magical powers and now everything is safe. He recovered all my files, fixed my computer, and generally just was awesome. Hooray!
So, I got a bit distracted with the recovery of said files, and made an AMV! It's Ouran High School Host Club ('cause I'm so obsessed with it).
The song is by Sloan and it's "The Other Man." I hope you like it!

I'm still in shock... but I just wiped my entire hard drive. Every single save file... every picture, every mp3, movie, program, project, story, WIP EVERY SINGLE FILE I ever had -- gone. My computer caught something nasty and now everything's gone.
Good news: 90% of my stories are backed up on my flash drive, including the FoBW WIP file.
Bad news: I lost everything else. EVERYTHING.
...sigh. |

Well we're pretty much all moved in! We have some little things to twiddle with and a lot of unpacking to do, but we're staying at the new house which has *drumroll* INTERNET! Hooray! I have my own precious computer hooked up to the internet -- for the first time in nearly two years. I've been cleaning it out and organizing files all day.
A couple of announcements; first of all, I have a new AIM screenname: Kinokokao plus a new email (@gmail.com) that I'll actually be around to check frequently and often. Yay.
Well I guess that's about it! Look forward to having me around more often now that I have my own computer and internet. I still need to transfer my files off Ian's computer, so when I do I can start writing again. See you later! Vi out. |

Hello again everyone! I have good news and bad news, so here it goes. Good news is I'm moving! Ian (the boyfriend) and I are moving into a new house together, so I'm pretty excited. This means I'll have simultaneous access to both my own computer AND the internet for the first time in two years. The new house is wicked cool. It's all fenced and gated, with a bridge over the moat and a carport... I'm super excited!
Bad news? Well, between moving and finals I'll be super busy! But don't worry, I've worked out some great ideas for FoBW. Plus finals mean that the semester is nearly over, so, fantastic free time looms!
Well, I guess that's everything.
P.S. Ian got a new job! He's going to become a locksmith ^_^ Yay, Ian! |

You know I haven't settled on a Halloween costume yet? I was thinking someone historical. Like I have the perfect dress for Marie Antionette, so I'd just need a wig, but if I did Joan of Arc I'd need a costume. But it'd be pretty cool. I'd probably try and put fake flames on myself somehow. I originally thought of going as Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt. That'd be cool, too... What's everyone else going as? |

After working the ever-so-fun midnight release, I immediately ran home and read Book 7. Non-HP fans at work have been cornering me for spoilers, but I'm dying for everyone to finish reading so I can deeply discuss.

Just a quick note to say that I am alive and functioning, I'm just running a gauntlet of incredibly hectic activities! First I went river-floating, then I attended my beloved grandmother in the hospital (she had her cancer-ridden bladder taken out, but she's got spunk and is doing A-OK!), and now Ian's big 4th of July multi-day family reunion is approaching! (ee! I'm so nervous, what if his family doesn't like me...?) Added to all this, I'm working frantically to make up for all the time off for said activities. WHEW!
Anyway, I'm working hard on the update of FoBW. I'm really excited, last night I had a major plot-related moment of enlightenment. Hm, is that all? Ah! I'm obsessed with Ouran Host Club now. Tamaki is so cute ^_^!
I'm also playing Pokemon Pearl on my DS and living it up old school geek-style. But, mostly, I'm writing! ...Really, I promise!

Just adding that we've experienced 18 straight days of rain, on top of an abnormally wet spring, a super bizarre rarity for Oklahoma, and all the rivers are flooding. Apparently, Lake Carl Blackwell has an earthen dam that's about to melt away, too. Eee! I'm scared! |

Oh, man! I had such a great time at Akon. I think Rachel came away a little traumatized; she likes anime and such, but isn't really all that fannish. She was a little shocked at all the "weird people." I truly am the greatest nerd of my friends. I felt bad few people recognized her cosplay, but omg her blue hair was awesome. I wish she had blue hair all the time.
( And I got so much cool stuff... that is, I spent way too much money! )
Overall, very exciting and lots of fun. When I came back, Ian had a wonderful surprise waiting for me -- a one-of-a-kind border around my living room made of antique postcards from around the world. The room has a map-theme to it, since I collect and love maps, and one entire wall is just postcards from Asia. I spazzed out and squealed alot because OMG it looks *awesome* It's way too cool. Way too cool. |

So, Rachel and I leave for A-kon on Friday. She's working overtime like crazy to get the day off, poor thing.
She's going as Kaname from FMP, in the blue dress she wore aboard the TDD-1 in the last story arc. She has her dress made already and is dying her hair.
And Me?
...AHH! I have TWO DAYS to get a costume ready, if I want to cosplay. I also have no money, no sewing machine, no talent, and chin-length deep-magenta hair. I've been going crazy trying to think of an easy to assemble costume, but I keep getting stuck on my hair. I'm probably just going to punk out and not cosplay, but since Rachel is I thought it'd be cool...
I'm sitting here going crazy trying to think of something. Which means, of course, I'm getting absolutely no writing done. Oops.
Any cosplay ideas would be wonderful. I'm trying to think of costumes I could throw together either from my own closet or assemble from the goodwill/salvation army. I'm a bit reassured by remembering I conceived, assembled and made a GoGo Yubari from Kill Bill costume, complete with custom-made spiked flail in less than 48 hours. It helped I had a complete schoolgirl costume lying around. 'Cause, you know, who doesn't? |

Right. So, don't ask *WHY* it's taken me this long to figure it out because I'm honestly a little embarassed (make that a LOT, actually) and shamed that ALL THIS TIME I have been misspelling Treize's name! WTF!
Damn brainwashing public education, trying to always make me put "i before e except after c" ... except science in species, and weight, height, freight, their, either, neither, protein, foreign, forfeit, sovereign, weird, heir, heist, leisure, veil, vein, ...I COULD KEEP GOING! ARGH! I hate that stupid "rule" because it's always harder to name words that DO follow it. Pie is the only one I can think of right now.
But I've been writing "Trieze" for 5 years now, it's going to be very, very hard to force myself to remember its Treize. Treize. Treize. Treize. It feel weird to type. Treize...
So now the question is: do I go through and correct all the FoBW chapters or just forge onward with "Trieze" since it's been like that since the beginning? Technically it's an French loan-word into Japanese rendered back into English, the transliteration would be Tureezu. That's it. From now on, his name is Tureezu!

Why is it that the more I procrastinate studying, the calmer I feel? I'm sitting here in the library at 3:47 in the morning with a final in roughly 6 hours that I've only done the IDs part of the study sheet yet, for a class that I missed two critically important weeks of lecture. And what have I been doing? Collecting KKM and GW pics for the past two and a half hours, I kid you not.
A while ago some guy with a backpack-rigged coffee pot (it was the coolest thing (*ever*) came over and offered free coffee -- a girl with him had cream and sugar. They were like caffeine faeries descending upon my little corner. I took the coffee more out of amazement than anything else. Thanks, caffeine faeries! (Inspection of the styrofoam cup reveals they were in fact caffeine angels courtesy of a local church. Thanks, Jesus!)

Wish me luck! The final is 30% of my grade. (Not as stressful as the Russian history final -- it was 50% of my grade) I have confidence! I'm good at history! I'm good at tests! I'm good at essay tests! My powers combined are unstoppable!
Okay it's like five billion dollars a minute if this thing's late, so now I'm really leaving. Forgive my random assault of rambling. I promise my next post will be a FoBW chapter! Really! I promise! It's already written, I just have to type it. You'll see.
